7/13
It's been a couple of days since my last entry so i will give a quick update now.
Monday evening I was pushing hard to make it to Fort Dodge, Iowa before the massive thunder storm hit that area. I was riding straight into it and just made it there and checked in before the first drops fell, then the bottom dropped out and it continued most of the night.
Tuesday morning it was still overcast and cool as I got on the road heading north/northwest towards western Minnesota and then turning west to Aberdeen, South Dakota where I was stopping for the night.
It started clearing about 10 am and the temps climbed quickly to the upper 80's and the wind coming out of the west was 20-40 mph with gust up to 60 and continued today as well.
This made for tense riding for 2 day to say the less.
I think I put more miles on the sidewalls of the tires than I did on the tread area not to mention the automatic lane changes that you would get with high gust.
Today I left Aberdeen heading due north to Jamestown, North Dakota were I turned west towards Bismarck. This was de'ja' vu trying to get to my turning point before the storms hit and again luck was on my side as I got there, refueled, and decided to take I-94 to get west of the storm as quick as i could.
As for the pic's I took yesterday, I had an equipment malfunction (operator screw-up) this morning as I was taking my first shot for the day, I hit the delete button on my camera and lost them. tried to recover but no go. :-(
today's pic's will follow this.
Anyway back to today's ride, I turned north about 25 miles east of Bismarck to get above all the road construction and turned west again across highway 200 all the way to Killdeer were I stopped for the night. This area is were the shale oil boom hit a couple years ago and it's like what we read about the California gold rush school, everything is expensive as hell here.
Ok, tomorrow I'm off to Montana.
Just a reminder, at the bottom of about every 10 post you will see "Old Post" on the lower right corner, click on this and it will take you to the next set of 'Newer" post.
